Do you also think of movies where crime investigations are carried out when you hear about a DNA test? Or do you believe such a test is only useful for knowing which family members you are or are not related to and for creating a beautiful family tree? Nothing could be further from the truth! In this blog, you'll learn more about the benefits of a DNA test for your health and how you can best utilize its results!
Why a DNA test?
With a DNA test (DNA Liver Passport), it is possible to preventively map out which medications, herbs, or supplements you react well or less well to, and what predispositions you have or don't have. By subsequently adjusting your lifestyle based on these insights, it is possible to experience more energy, more balance, more rest, and fewer (vague) complaints!
Benefits of a DNA test
With a DNA test, you gain insights into, among other things:
- Which medications you react to atypically
- Which nutrients / supplements you absorb well and which less well
- How your hormone breakdown proceeds
- How your body breaks down heavy metals
- How your histamine breakdown proceeds
What exactly is DNA?
DNA is the abbreviation for Deoxyribonucleic acid and is the main carrier of hereditary information in the body, stored in genes. When a cell divides, the DNA is copied, and the new cell then receives a copy of the genes from the original cell.
The DNA, and thus the hereditary information, is identical in all body cells of an individual. This allows DNA from buccal swabs to be compared with DNA obtained from other body cells, such as blood, saliva, semen, hair, muscle, bone, or teeth. This is practical because buccal mucosa is easy to collect and is therefore the usual reference material for comparative DNA research.
Is DNA hereditary?
DNA is inherited from parent to child. As a result, the DNA of parents and their children has many similarities. DNA research has led to major breakthroughs in the world, which we initially didn't even think possible. For example, DNA kinship analysis is used to solve major crimes and to prove paternity.
Your DNA remains the same from the day you are born until your last day.
DNA and your health
Your genes contain a wealth of useful information that you can use to improve your lifestyle and health. They explain differences between individuals in areas such as nutrition, sport, biological aging, and metabolism.
Now it might seem like if you have a certain predisposition, you'll always have that specific genetic advantage or disadvantage. That's true, but you can influence it with lifestyle adjustments.
For example, if the test shows that your vitamin D is absorbed more easily than average, but you always stay indoors and don't get sun exposure, your vitamin D levels can still be too low. And this is despite having a genetic advantage. The difference is that with a normal lifestyle, you are less likely to develop a deficiency than the average person.
Or, if you see that you have no predisposition to overweight but you eat junk food every day and drink a lot of soda with it, then you too can become overweight. Even a predisposition to overweight doesn't have to be an excuse for people who are overweight, because with lifestyle factors that negatively or positively affect your health, you don't have to become overweight even with that DNA profile. You can then make adjustments to your diet, exercise, behavior, and nutritional supplements, and this will overcome genetic predisposition.

Taking a DNA test
To give you insight into your DNA profile, we offer a DNA test. While other DNA tests often look at hereditary diseases, this test only examines lifestyle genes.
The DNA test is evaluated in a certified European laboratory (Scandinavia) for reliable results. Stricter privacy laws apply there than in America, where many other parties send their tests. Big data is incredibly popular; some companies examine thousands of genes that are irrelevant to the report and even sell them to other parties. With our DNA test, this is not the case!
What can a DNA test tell you?
The overview below shows the 11 main themes of the research. The number of themes per main category is indicated in parentheses.

How does a DNA test work?
The Nutri-Gene pro DNA lifestyle test is a self-test that you can easily and quickly take at home. After your order, you will receive the DNA test kit at home. You only need to take a buccal swab sample with a type of cotton swab and send it back in the return envelope. Six weeks after sending your sample, you will receive the results.
Because we want you to make optimal use of the results you receive, we offer an hour-long consultation with it, in which you will receive practical tips on how to adjust your lifestyle to your DNA. You can also ask all your questions, and the therapist will look at any complaints you may have.
Your DNA result always remains current; it's ideal to consult the accompanying book (worth 39 euros) from time to time.
