Do we really need supplements?
When I changed my lifestyle a few years ago, I never thought I'd start my own supplement line. In fact, I thought supplements were the biggest nonsense. 'Healthy eating is enough, isn't it?' I thought for years. In all the training courses I followed, I found out that nothing could be further from the truth...
Even people with a Brain Balance lifestyle develop deficiencies in essential vitamins/minerals. How is this possible?
1. Soil impoverishment
Over the years, the economic industry has played an increasingly important role in agriculture. The downside of mass production and revenue optimization is soil depletion. As a result, crops contain fewer and fewer nutrients every day.
2. Processed food
Nowadays, most of the products in the supermarket are processed. During the processing, nutrients disappear and chemical substances are added.
3. Less local production
The journey from the land to your plate is getting longer and longer. Every day that passes after harvesting, fruits and vegetables lose some of their nutritional value. It is always best to get your fruits and vegetables from the local farmer.
4. Hormonal imbalance on the rise
More and more people are struggling with hormonal imbalance; men, women, old and young. One of the important causes we look at is a lack of proper nutrients. Our body is capable of converting certain nutrients into hormones. It is not surprising that a lack of these causes an imbalance. Unfortunately, we also see an increasing number of hormone-disrupting substances in plastics, medicines, sweeteners, and colorants, among other things.
5. Little fresh air
Where we were almost always outdoors during our millions of years of evolution, nowadays we are mostly indoors. In our consultations, we often see people who have developed a vitamin D deficiency. After all, sunlight is an incredibly important source of vitamin D.
6. Free radicals, toxins, and chemicals
No matter how healthy you eat, how much you exercise, how often you meditate; we all deal with free radicals. Firstly, we find these toxic substances in cosmetics, (cigarette) smoke, air pollution, and heavy metals. Fortunately, our body does everything to eliminate these free radicals. However, this requires a lot of energy, and it just so happens that we need nutrients for energy.
7. Low-grade inflammation
Many of us currently suffer – consciously or unconsciously – from low-grade inflammation, our immune system is continuously active. The body constantly calls for extra nutrients and consumes an enormous amount of energy.
8. Stress
Healthy eating does not guarantee the absorption of these nutrients. Our digestion plays an important role in this. Currently, many people suffer from poorly functioning digestion due to high levels of stress.
In short; healthy food alone is not enough. Measuring is knowing!
