How do I get rid of my skin problems?

Skin problems can have a huge impact on your self-confidence, as well as cause a lot of frustration. Whether it's acne, eczema, dry skin, dull skin, wrinkles, or other conditions. You feel like you've tried everything, or you simply don't know how to get rid of it. It seems like an endless quest to find the right solution to be able to look in the mirror happily again. However, the cause of skin problems often lies deeper than you think, namely from within. Everything that isn't quite right in your body, whether it's your hormones or your gut, manifests itself on your skin. Fortunately, in this blog, we explain what you can do for recovery.

Most common complaints with skin problems

Skin problems come in many different variations. Whether you have them yourself or recognize them in someone else. Here's a summary of the different types of skin problems:

  1. Pimples and acne. Pimples come in many shapes and sizes, even severe acne. Our therapist Joyce talks more about this in a video where she explains what helped her get rid of it.
  2. Itchy and irritated skin with eczema: The skin can be slightly itchy or even feel burning. There can be various underlying causes, such as incorrect use of make-up, wrong diet, or inappropriate cleaning products.
  3. Dry skin and/or flakes: Dry skin is sensitive, often flakes, and can itch. Sometimes your skin can even "crack." With fair skin, you may also get red patches.
  4. Dull and/or sallow skin: Dull, tired, pale, or sallow skin. All names that indicate that your skin does not look energetic and radiant. Your skin lacks color, and you notice dark circles around your eyes.
  5. Excessive oiliness: where others complain about dry skin, you suffer more from excessively oily skin. Annoying impurities can arise, such as pimples and blackheads. Your skin cannot process the excess sebum production.

It can be very annoying if you are experiencing these complaints. It is therefore important to take these complaints seriously, as they not only cause physical discomfort but also emotional hindrances.

Causes of skin problems

What could be the cause behind your skin problems? We would like to list some possible causes here. Of course, this is different for every person, and you can best find out by having a personal consultation.

  1. Hormones out of balance: Our hormones play an important role in regulating the various processes and functions of the body, also on the outside. This means that when our hormones are out of balance, it is immediately visible on the skin, hair, and nails. Read the detailed article about hormones here.
  2. Incorrect nutrition: Too much sugar, too much fat, wrong fats, lactose, or pork... Every person has their own sensitivity to food that leads to skin problems. When you eat a lot of sugar and processed foods, it can cause inflammation in the body, which causes acne and other skin problems. It is important to discover what triggers skin problems for you from the foods you consume.
  3. Gut and your health: Our gut tells us a lot about the state of our overall health. It is not for nothing that it is called our second brain. The gut is literally a mirror of our health. With an unbalanced gut flora, there is increased permeability of the intestinal wall, which can cause inflammation. It has been proven that a healthy gut contributes to radiant skin. Read more here.
  4. (Unconscious) stress: The stress hormone cortisol can lead to an increase in inflammation in the body and a deterioration of the skin condition. It's no coincidence that people with a lot of stress in their lives experience more skin problems. Think of acne, dull skin, or even premature skin aging. In addition, stress disrupts your sleep, which in turn disrupts the skin repair processes at night.

Solving your skin problems

Of course, there may be other underlying causes for your skin problems not mentioned above. Medication, for example, can also have a major influence on disturbances in your skin. Every person is unique, and that is why we advise against simply taking supplements or completely changing your diet, but first to conduct a personal analysis of your situation. What could you already do yourself to address your skin problems? We are happy to give you advice:

  1. Restore balance to your hormones: A hormone test can offer a solution to find out if your hormones are out of balance and causing your skin problems. We can then bring your hormone balance back to the right level with the help of supplements.
  2. Adjusting your diet: Avoid sugars and processed foods. Go back to the core of nature when it comes to food. That's where we find our nutrients. Focus on a diet rich in antioxidants, healthy fats, and nutrients such as vitamins A, C, and E.
  3. Improve your gut health: Choose a fiber-rich diet and, if necessary, supplement with a pre/probiotic course to promote your healthy gut flora.
  4. Reduce stress: Practice meditation, breathing exercises, yoga, or a walk in the woods more often. By lowering your cortisol levels, your skin will also be able to recover better.
  5. Skin care and cleansing: Do not use harsh cleansing agents, but only mild and moisturizing variants. Preferably a variant that suits your skin type. Feel free to seek advice on this, as this is also something that is not the same for everyone.
  6. Schedule an orthomolecular consultation: By working with an orthomolecular therapist to examine your skin problems and discover the causes, we can give you the best advice for recovery. We not only look at your vitamin levels but also at what your life looks like, what your needs are, and how you can have radiant skin, full of energy.

Addressing skin problems requires more than just applying a cream. We understand that this process may not be easy for you. We are happy to guide you to ensure that you can live your life with energy and self-confidence. Only by addressing underlying causes can you create long-lasting results.
