Discover the benefits of pressure points

In our fast-paced world, where stress and tension often prevail, many people seek ways to experience inner peace and balance. An effective and natural method to restore this balance is to discover and activate pressure points. In this blog, we delve deeper into what pressure points are, the benefits they offer, and how you can use different pressure points to improve your overall well-being.

What are pressure points?

Pressure points, also known as acupressure points, are specific points on the body where light pressure can be applied to relieve various physical and emotional symptoms.

Every person has 12 main meridians in their body, which can be thought of as energy channels running through you. These meridians are all linked to organs, and by stretching a meridian, you activate it. When you treat a specific pressure point, you essentially activate the meridians twice, which accelerates your body's self-healing ability!

Pressure points for autumn

Autumn is a good time to pay extra attention to your immune system.

Your immune system protects you from all sorts of illnesses and helps you stay healthy. For a well-functioning and healthy immune system, it is very important to be able to let go of stress, and this can be done, for example, through specific pressure points, which we will share later in this article.

The benefits of pressure points

Treating pressure points can be used for various benefits:

Stress relief

By applying pressure to specific points, you can reduce stress and promote relaxation. This helps calm the mind and improves overall mood.

Pain relief

Pressure points can be used to relieve pain, ranging from headaches to back pain. By activating the correct points, you can experience natural pain relief.

Improved sleep

By stimulating certain pressure points, you can improve sleep quality. This is especially useful for people suffering from insomnia or irregular sleep patterns.

Relief of emotional tension

Pressure points can help reduce anxiety, depression, and other emotional tensions. Activating these points stimulates the release of endorphins, making you feel happier and calmer.

5 pressure point exercises

We are happy to share 5 beneficial pressure point exercises with you, each with a different purpose. From relaxation to energy, and from expelling toxins to relieving headaches.

The exercises are most effective when performed for about 2 minutes, but every little bit helps!

1. Pressure point for relaxation

Around your wrist, you have many pressure points that are important for relaxation. Namely, those of your heart, large intestine, and lung meridians. Place your right hand around your left wrist and then rotate your left wrist. This activates the pressure points in your wrist and helps you relax more. Then do the same with your left hand around your right wrist.

2. Pressure point for more energy

At the top of your breastbone is the thymus gland, which shrinks after puberty. But according to Chinese medicine, this does not mean that this gland can no longer be stimulated. By tapping your breastbone with both hands, you activate the thymus gland and gain more energy.

3. Pressure point to cleanse your internal system

On the side of our body, at the level of the bra strap, is the end of the spleen meridian. By making tapping movements with your hands there, you activate this meridian. Because your spleen is responsible for removing bacteria and viruses, you cleanse your internal system in this way.

4. Pressure point for detoxifying

In case of inflammation, your lymph nodes are the first to swell. These are located at the top of your neck. Gently place your knuckles on the bone below your ears and gently stroke downwards, towards your collarbones. This helps the drainage of toxins and relaxation of your lymph nodes.

5. Pressure point for headache

Headaches can be caused when your liver and/or gallbladder are detoxifying. Interlace the fingers of both hands, but keep your thumbs free. Place your palms on the back of your head with your thumbs pointing downwards and use your thumbs to find 2 'hollows'. Stimulate these hollows by massaging them with your thumbs. This ensures that the energy can flow there again and the headache will subside.
