The awareness and popularity of Intermittent Fasting continue to grow, and when applied correctly, it offers many health benefits.
It remains a much-discussed topic, and that's why we've compiled the 6 most frequently asked questions for you in this article.
1. Should you take a break from IF occasionally?
It's not mandatory, but it's certainly allowed! It's important to listen to your body's needs. Intermittent Fasting is not a diet, but a lifestyle that you can apply flexibly.
So, if you want to have breakfast one day, go for it!
2. Is Intermittent Fasting suitable for everyone?
No! Intermittent Fasting, when applied correctly, can bring enormous health benefits. But this does not mean it is healthy for everyone to start with it.
If you experience a lot of stress, are pregnant, have thyroid problems, a hormonal imbalance, an eating disorder, or a chronic illness, we always recommend consulting one of our therapists for guidance.
3. Can I take supplements during fasting?
Most supplements are best absorbed with a meal, so you can take them with your first meal. Magnesium is best taken separately from a meal and does not break the fast.
Fish collagen is also best absorbed separately from a meal but does break the fast. Therefore, it is best to take it 30 minutes before your first meal.
4. Can I drink only herbal tea, or also black tea, during fasting?
During your fasting period, you may drink water, tea, and coffee. This can be black tea as well as herbal tea! If you drink coffee, make sure to only drink black coffee during fasting periods.
5. What are the different forms of Intermittent Fasting?
• 14/10, 16/8 and 18/6: Three methods in which you eat within a certain timeframe during the day and do not eat during the remaining time. You can also build this up.
• 5/2: You fast for five days and do not fast for the remaining two days, for example, on the weekend.
• Stop-fast-stop: 2 days not fasting, 1 day fasting
• Alternate: 1 day fasting, 1 day not, 1 day fasting, etc.
6. How do I start Intermittent Fasting?
The most popular method of Intermittent Fasting is 16/8. You eat for an 8-hour period and fast for the remaining 16 hours. This does not mean it is the only method.
